Hannah Allerdice Bricker (Ph.D., E-RYT 500, YACEP), Trainer in Residence
Hannah has been studying yoga for 18 years and studying with Sri Dharma Mittra for the last 12 years. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance and has taken her 200, 500, 800, and 1000-hour trainings with Sri Dharma and serves on the teaching staff of Sri Dharma Mittra’s Life of a Yogi Teacher Trainings in New York. Hannah also serves as a co-founder and executive director of Dharma Yoga DC—a non-profit organization in Washington DC that shares the Homebase Program of Whole-Self Education to students, educators, families—and to the Washington DC community more broadly. Venessa Bowers (E-RYT 200/500 RYT, YACEP), Studio Manager
Venessa is a licensed certified social worker (clinical), a certified clinical trauma professional, yoga instructor, a Registered Usui/Holy Fire Reiki Master Teacher, and a Karuna Ki Reiki Master. She specializes in working with children and adults who have been affected by traumatic experiences. Venessa’s teaching style seeks to create deep thought, inner connection, and the release of things no longer serving the individual. Her classes can have a therapeutic feel to them, but they are not therapy classes. Her approach to yoga uses the Karmic path, which is the “yoga of action in the service of others” and her style has been called “gritty and real.” Venessa completed her 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2018 and her 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training in 2020, and is working on her 95-hour certification in children’s yoga with Radiant Child Yoga, and completed 40 hours of Trauma Center – Trauma Sensitive Yoga training with David Emerson and Jenn Turner at Kripalu. Venessa was accepted into the 300 hr Trauma Sensitive Yoga Facilitators Program at the Center for Trauma and Embodiment for the 2020-2021 global cohort.
Heather Cherry (200 RYT)
Heather has been practicing yoga on and off for many years. What started off as a way of stretching after other athletic pursuits turned into a way of life in 2016. Heather uses yoga to heal both physical pain and anxiety and now shares that healing with everyone who participates in the classes she teaches. She currently teaches Les Mills’ Body Flow and a variety of yoga styles at Shore Zen Yoga Studio inside Olympia Fitness Clubs.
Veronica Correa (200 RYT), Studio Owner
Veronica is a licensed certified social worker (clinical), yoga instructor, life coach, and certified hypnotherapist. Veronica earned her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Maryland and she holds a license as a certified clinical social worker from the Maryland State Board of Social Work Examiners. Veronica has 22 years of counseling experience and her work focuses on providing guidance for people to break through physical and emotional pain, as well as inspiring them to make healthy choices and to achieve their dreams. Veronica uses innovative, alternative approaches—such as clinical hypnosis, Reiki, and energy therapy—as well as traditional counseling. Her approaches have proved to be a good complement to modern medicine, empowering people to get well faster. Veronica has added mindfulness, gentle yoga, and yoga nidra to help people connect with the joy and deep inner peace that resides inside their hearts.
Ryah Dekis (E-RYT 500, YACEP), Trainer in Residence
Ryah is an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist, YACEP, Reiki 2 practitioner, and labor, birth/postpartum doula. Owner of Nectar and Nurture Yoga, a Registered Prenatal Yoga School through Yoga Alliance (RYS), Nectar & Nurture Ayurveda & Wellness, and the creator of “Natural Mystic” organic reiki infused products and jewelry. A spirited women’s health educator, self-care specialist, and Nectar & Nurture Doula Support couples birth workshop leader. She’s been passionate about prenatal yoga for over a decade.
Betsy Long (Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga For All™; Radiant Child 20-hour)
Betsy has been a practicing Licensed Massage Therapist for 10 years at Olympia Fitness Clubs in Salisbury. She has since used her knowledge and understanding of the body to start learning and applying the benefits of yoga. After practicing in classes and on her own for about 2 years, she became certified in Hatha Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga For All™—a Body Positive Yoga format. Betsy also completed her 200-hour certification with Radiant Child Yoga. Although new to the yoga world, Betsy is passionate about learning, especially when it comes to reaching out to those who may not feel they fit a “yoga mold.” She believes the benefits of yoga are available to everyone regardless of experience, age, gender, size, flexibility, or injury.
Bridget Strama, (B.S., M.A. E-RYT 200), Trainer in Residence
Bridget founded Child’s Heart Yoga in 2014, after a long public school teaching career. Bridget believes that the natural curiosity, radiance and joy of children should be celebrated. She is also the founder of Survive to Thrive Mamas and a Hoop Yogini Master Teacher Trainer.
Kristen Wood (200 RYT)
Kristen has been practicing Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan since 2006. In 2010, after a year of intensive study, she became certified as a 200 hour Kundalini Research Institute Level 1 Instructor. In 2013, Kristen became certified as a Kundalini Conscious Pregnancy Instructor. She has found Kundalini Yoga to be deeply transformative and healing for the mind, body and soul. It has helped provide the tools to successfully navigate and manage every aspect of her life ranging from personal to professional. Kristen hopes every student will leave the class feeling more deeply connected with themselves and with the world around them.
